T-VIPS Integrates ATSC Compliant cProcessor range with Triveni Digital's GuideBuilder(TM) to Provide Industry's Most Powerful DTV Solutions
Las Vegas, USA - April 21 2009
T-VIPS AS, global leader in professional video contribution and distribution, and Triveni Digital, a subsidiary of LG Electronics (LGE), announce today that they have collaborated to integrate the T-VIPS cProcessor range with the Triveni Digital GuideBuilder(TM) PSIP (Program and System Information Protocol) generation system. The integration of these two industry leading solutions provides broadcasters with a powerful and flexible PSIP creation and management system.
The GuideBuilderTM system provides mission-critical operational capabilities for broadcasters by generating accurate PSIP data. Errors in PSIP data can cause lapses in the DTV signal, problems with closed captioning, v-chip data, and errors with electronic program guides (EPG) - all significant concerns for broadcasters.
"This integration effort is a part of Triveni Digital's key strategy to provide the most highly integrated solutions with leading broadcast industry partners. This approach provides the most flexibility and robustness to our broadcast customers, who can select the optimal solutions to fit their particular needs," says Mark Simpson, President and CEO, Triveni Digital. "The tight integration of our industry leading PSIP generator, GuideBuilder, with T-VIPS' advanced ATSC compliant cProcessor family provides the industry with a PSIP solution that enables both digital transition and advanced future DTV functionality."
The T-VIPS cProcessor product family supports a multitude of applications in DTV, cable and satellite markets including local insertion of network programming and monitoring. Through sophisticated IP integration with the GuideBuilder(TM) the cProcessor ingests PSIP data and carousels the data for a simple yet elegant solution for correct PSIP transmission. Handling of PSIP updates is critical as errors in this data can cause serious issues including: DTV tuners not finding channels, closed captions not appearing, or programs not being listed in electronic program guides (EPGs). The full T-VIPS ATSC-compliant cProcessor line handles SMPTE 310M Synchronous Serial Interface as well as DVB-ASI.
"This integration provides American DTV operators with the industry's best PSIP creation and management tools, simplifying operators' DTV transitions," says Johnny Dolvik, CEO, T-VIPS. "Our experience in Europe, where our solutions have been chosen to power the majority of major DTV transition projects, is that Digital Transition has two phases. The first sees the operator go digital, this is then followed by a second phase, during which new services and operating practices are introduced that ensure that the operator can make the most of digital terrestrial infrastructure. I look forward to working with Triveni Digital to ensure that US operators can make the most of their digital transitions, both now and in the future."
