Ingar Østby

Ingar founded Northzone together with Karl-Christian, Björn and Tellef. With a strong entrepreneurial heart, he realized that McKinsey&Co was a great place to start a career but not the ultimate place to be. When setting up Northzone, Hugin became one of the first projects that he was involved in, resulting in one of the first successful Internet start-ups in Norway, subsequently sold to Euronext.

Instrumental in building the subsequent funds, Ingar put his strong analytical mind in motion and participated in the decisions to fund success stories such as Mamut, Trolltech and NextGenTel. However, when it was time to raise Northzone IV in 2004, Ingar wanted to subscribe for a freestanding lifestyle, thus changing status to Venture Partner. Since then, Ingar has shared offices with Northzone, become a limited partner in our funds and frequently also co-invested along Northzone in interesting opportunities.
