Jörgen´s War Story: And now we have to change the world

Xcerion is a venture capitalist's heaven. And hell. The technology has been developed under the radar of the giants for some seven years, and believe me when I say that it is completely brilliant. These guys have solved many of the problems that large Internet sites face today, and they have done it all with a team of less than 10 people. Xcerions WebOS (branded iCloud) is simply way above anything Microsoft, Google, Adobe or anyone else has to show. But that is also the problem - how does small start-up wrestle with the large gorillas? Where do you begin?

The good news: The need for iCloud and its possibilities is enormous and the trend towards cloud computing is unstoppable.

Let's start with me. I currently have a phone, a home computer, a laptop and a notebook - and I am sure I will have a kitchen computer, a TV-computer (digital box with Internet access?) and what not in the near future. Is it the same for you? What's worst: I already find that my info is scattered among these devices.

The solution for me is a WebOS - a desktop on the Internet that holds (almost) all my files; a desktop I can reach from any device. Hence, I can reach all my information anywhere on any of my devices. And this is exactly what iCloud is providing. By the way - did we mention it is free, virus protected, fast and comes with a gazillion new outstanding applications?

The problem: How do we tell the world? All the large companies have their twist on the story. Google says "you don't need no WebOS, everything is web pages nowadays". Microsoft goes: "use our Live service and our mesh and Silverlight and purchase a OS per device from us!" And Adobe claims that Air will solve all your problems. Yada, yada.

In my eyes they're all wrong, of course. How do we make sure that the end users understand what the h*ll is actually going on?

The solution: iCloud is ready for Beta launch in 09Q1. And through the year, there will be a number of efforts targeted towards attracting users on a large scale. 2009 and 2010 is clearly the period when iCloud will rival and outperform Microsoft and Google in the race for the best WebOS user experience.

Will the rest be history? Will iCloud succeed? Well - if you are a user by the end of 2009 you'll know. And if you're not: your loss, actually.
