James Braithwaite
James joined Northzone in 2025 as Financial Controller and is based in the London office, where he oversees fund finance, including investor reporting and valuations, as well as group-level operational finance.
He began his career at PwC, where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant (ACA), and later worked in the finance teams at Gresham House and Bluewater.
James holds a degree in Economics and Finance from the University of Manchester.
Where would we find you outside of work?
I enjoy running, cycling, hiking, and playing football—anything that gets me outdoors. I’m always up for a challenge, whether training for an event or exploring somewhere new.
If you weren’t working at Northzone, where would we find you?
I love explaining complex concepts in simple, accessible ways and helping others learn. In an alternate life, I’d likely be a teacher.
What’s something you’ve read or heard recently that’s impacted you?
I recently read Why We Sleep by Matthew Walker, which opened my eyes to the link between self-care, mental wellbeing, and cognitive function. Highly recommended.
